1.
Apply for admission to Shoreline Community College. Indicate your interest in receiving transfer
admission guarantee to Portland State University on your Shoreline application.
2. Receive an admission letter from Shoreline Community College, as well as a transfer admission
guarantee letter to Portland State University AT THE SAME TIME!
3. Take your admission letters, along with your I-20 document, to the U.S. embassy or consulate
and apply for your F-1 visa.
4. Enroll at Shoreline and finish the first half of your bachelor’s degree by earning an associate
degree.
5. Transfer to Portland State University to finish your bachelor’s degree!
Portland State University Transfer Admission Guarantee Requires:
• Complete at least 90 transferable, college-level quarter credits;
• Achieve a minimum cumulative college-level GPA of 2.25;
• Complete English 101 with a grade of 1.67 or higher;
• Apply in a timely manner to allow for processing of application, and submit all supporting
documents such as official transcripts and proof of finances;
• Demonstrate English proficiency by completing a transferrable associate degree (AA or AS) with
either a) a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher AND 8 quarter credits of college-level writing,
including English 101, with grades of 1.67 or higher, or b) earning a TOEFL of 71 (15 in reading
and writing) or IELTS of 6.0 (6.0 in writing).
• NOTE: This conditional guaranteed admission agreement applies only to general admission at
Portland State University; some programs may impose additional admission requirements.
