Instructions for Getting Your Vehicle Released from Impound

at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

If your vehicle was towed for illegal parking,

PLEASE NOTE: Due to this revised process, please expect to travel between the

police department location and the ABM office (i.e., have someone drive you, hire

a taxi, or take a Port Authority free shuttle bus).

1. You must first obtain a release form from the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD)

impound lot at EWR located at the following address, from Monday to Friday from

6am-2pm:

P7 Parking Lot

End of Brewster Road

Newark, NJ 07114

You must bring the following documents for release:

• Valid driver's license

• Valid insurance

• Proper ownership and registration papers

Agents for the owner must provide the documents listed above in addition to a

notarized "Letter of Authorization" that permits the agent to claim the vehicle for the

owner.

2. Once you receive the release form from PAPD, you must go to the ABM office at EWR,

located at the following address:

At the ABM office, you will pay the impound storage fees and any outstanding parking

fees via credit card and receive proof of payment.

Directions to ABM via Port Authority Free Shuttle Bus: (see map on page 3)

• From Parking Lot P7, walk back to Parking Lot P6 to get on the shuttle bus for service to the

Short-Term Parking Lot for Terminals A, B and C.

• Once you arrive at the Short-Term Parking Lot, walk through the parking lot to the toll plaza

building. The ABM office is located above the toll booths, on the right-hand side as cars exit –

press the white button on the door to be buzzed in. Go upstairs to pay your fees.

Directions to ABM: (see map on page 3)

• When leaving Parking Lot P7, follow signs towards Terminals A, B & C and Short-Term Parking

(approximately 10 to 15-minute drive.) Be sure to remain on airport roads – do not exit the

airport.

• Enter the Short-Term Parking lot through A & B Short-Term Parking or B Short-Term Parking.

Take a ticket from the machine. DO NOT ENTER E-ZPASS PLUS LANES.

• After you enter the parking lot, immediately follow exit signs, leading you towards the toll plaza.

There are three toll plazas in this parking lot, and you should drive towards the Central Toll

Plaza (directly across Terminal C Garage). (As long you exit within 10 minutes, your parking

fee will be $0.)

• Drive through any of the right-most lanes and insert your ticket to exit.

• As soon as you exit the toll booth, you can park along the right-hand side on the road, against

the cement barriers. Then, walk back to the toll building. The ABM office is located above the

parking plaza you just exited – press the white button on the door to be buzzed in. Go upstairs

to pay your fees.

3. Once you obtain proof of payment at the ABM office, you must return to the PAPD

impound lot in Parking Lot P7 and provide your proof of payment to the Police Officer

to retrieve your vehicle. Proof of payment is the only way the vehicle will be

released.
