Goal setting exercise, are you getting there?
Long-term goals require a series of short-term goals to be completed first. Short-term goals may take several
years or several months to complete, depending on the ultimate goal. Looking at what is necessary to achieve,
your long-term goals puts short-term goals into perspective. For instance, a person cannot become a nurse
(long-term goal) without first taking classes that qualify the student for a nursing program (short-term goals).
Write out four concise, measurable long-term goals chosen from the brainstorming list on the previous page...
Add short-term measurable goals that would assist you in achieving the long-term goals.
Example = measurable
Long-term Goal: I want to graduate with a BS in Nursing from CSULA by 2026.
Short-term Goal: Meet with a counselor to see what classes I need and get a SEP.
Short-term Goal: Attend a CSULA nursing orientation this semester.
