In ancient Greece, during the well-known Olympic Games, other
contests were held, like Medical, Theatrical or poetic contests. Medical
contests were taking place in Efessos in Asia Minor. Having that in mind,
during a Medical Symposium held in Thessaloniki, on 2008, we asked
important Professors who participated in the Meeting, about organizing
Medical Olympiads in Thessaloniki. All were very enthusiastic and
offered to support and help in order to materialize this idea. Two years
later, the International Medical Olympicus Association was founded
and the first International Medical Olympiad was successfully
organized in Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is located in a very strategic and
promising area between Asia, Africa and Europe. From Thessaloniki one
can easily go to touristic and/or historic places like the first capital of
Macedonian Kingdom Aiges-Vergina, the birthplace of Aristotle Stagira
in Chalkidiki, the birthplace of Democritus Avdira in Xanthi, the petrified
forest in Nostimo, Kastoria, the prehistoric settlement (1600 bC) of
Dispilio by the lake of Kastoria and other. Olympus mountain, which is
well seen from Thessaloniki, gave its name to the Olympic Games and
the nearby city Olympia.

About the conference - Objectives
As the world and its economics become increasingly globalized,
including extensive international travel and commerce, it is
necessary to think about health and disease, more than before in
the global context. It is important to study and improve heath levels
in order to tackle increasing global health threats, reduce
disparities within communities and between nations and
contribute to a world where people live healthier, safer and longer
lives. Medical research and the distribution of medical knowledge
are necessary in order to improve health and also find better
means for medical treatment. International meetings like the
present one are necessary in order to achieve the above goals. The
present 7th International Medical Olympiad as the previous 6 other
Medical Olympiads, have gained a well-deserved reputation in
presenting innovative research work on medicine, biology,
psychology, statistics and more.
Delegates of the 7th Olympiad will explore the opportunity to better
understand how research, program and policy decision-making
processes can be positively impacted. The contribution of
Hippocratic aphorisms and other studies may be presented as
practical and adjuvant contribution to medical and other sciences.
All medical specialties, technologies, pharmacology and medical
equipment firms are invited to participate in this Olympiad. We
would be pleased to see you getting involved in the 7th
International Medical Olympiad 2024 event in Chandigarh, India.
