How often should I review and update my
insurance policy?
It’s a good idea to review and update your insurance
policy annually or whenever significant life events
occur, such as moving, buying a new car, or
renovating your home. Regular reviews help ensure
your coverage aligns with your current needs and
circumstances.
What factors affect the cost of my insurance
premium?
Several factors impact your insurance premium,
including your age, driving record, location, type
of coverage, and more. We’ll assess your individual
circumstances to determine your premium.
Can I bundle multiple insurance policies
together?
Yes, we offer bundle discounts when you combine
multiple policies, such as auto and home insurance.
Bundling can help you save money while simplifying
your insurance coverage.
Do you offer insurance for recreational
vehicles, such as boats or motorcycles?
Yes, we offer insurance coverage for recreational
vehicles, including boats, motorcycles, RVs, and
more. We can help protect your valuable assets
while you enjoy your leisure time.
How does insurance coverage work for rental
cars?
Physical damage coverage for a rental vehicle can
come from several different sources. The coverage
chosen will depend on the circumstances, rental
duration, drivers, etc. In some situations, rental
coverage may be unavailable, such as with U-hauls
and recreational vehicles.
Another tip: check with your credit card company for
car rental insurance coverage if you use the card for
the rental.
The best practice when booking the rental is to figure
out the following:
1. The current value of the vehicle you are renting
(rental agency should be able to provide this).
2. Duration of the rental.
3. Drivers you plan to have using the vehicle when
you are away.
4. Options that the rental company offers for
coverage – we can use this info to help figure
out what you need/don’t need.
5. For a very reasonable annual premium, we can
add rental car insurance to your auto policy
that will provide the coverage you want in most
situations, at a much lower cost than the rental
car company.
Is ride sharing considered a commercial use
and should it be disclosed?
The ride sharing coverage is usually provided by the
ride sharing company while the driver is actively
working. This coverage is known as the SPF-9 policy,
and it is held by the ride-sharing company itself, not
the individual driver. When the driver is not actively
working, their personal auto policy will come into
effect to provide coverage.
1. It’s important for drivers to disclose their ride
sharing activities to their insurance provider, as
increased kilometres driven for work purposes
may need to be taken into account.
2. It’s worth noting that this coverage applies
specifically to app-based ride sharing services
where the parent company holds an SPF9 policy.
If the ride sharing activities are not covered by
such a policy, they may be rated as taxi services
instead.
3. The driver cannot do both Uber and Uber Eats
under a personal rating even if they are both
under the “Uber” platform.
4. Taxis are not considered ride sharing and require
commercial rating and insurance.
Is delivering food through platforms like Uber
Eats or Skip considered commercial use?
Yes, delivering food through platforms like Uber Eats
or Skip is considered commercial use. It falls under
the same category as pizza or take-away delivery.
Therefore, it is necessary to disclose this activity
to your insurance provider and obtain appropriate
commercial insurance coverage to ensure you
are adequately protected while engaging in these
services.

information about the driver, such as their name, date
of birth, and driving history. We’ll update your policy
accordingly.
Does it cost more to insure a red vehicle?

does not directly impact your insurance premiums.
Insurance companies primarily consider factors such
as the make, model, year, and mileage of the vehicle,
as well as the driver’s age, driving history, and location.
