theycancontaminatebothwaterandsoil,causingenvironmentaldamageandpersonalinjury.
Lead-acidbatteriesareidentiedbythesymbolshownbelowandshouldbeproperlyrecycled(Figure5).Theycannot

ACCELERATORPEDAL
Theacceleratorpedalisthepedalontheright,withthewordGOmoldedintoit(Figure10).Theoperationofthe
acceleratorpedaldiffersfromthatofanautomobile.WhenthekeyswitchistheONposition,andtheForward/Reverse
switchisineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition,pressingtheacceleratorpedalwillautomaticallyrelease
theparkbrakeandstartthevehiclemovinginthedirectionselected(forwardorreverse).Astheacceleratorpedal
ispressed,speedwillincreaseuntilfullspeedisreached.Whentheacceleratorisreleased,powerwillbecutoff
andthemotorwillstoprunning.
Electricvehiclesuseaspecialelectricalsystem,whichemploysmotorbrakinginsomemodesofoperation.In
thosemodes,thevehicleoperatesasfollows:
WalkAwayBraking:Thisfeaturepreventsthevehiclefromrollingawayuncontrolledshouldthedriverparkona
slopeandleavethevehiclewithoutlockingtheparkbrake.Thevehiclewillrollatabout1mph(1.6km/h).Ifthe
walkawaybrakingfunctionremainsengagedfortwosecondsormore,awarningbuzzerwillsoundtoalertthe

WATERQUALITY
Tokeepbatteriesingoodworkingcondition,thepurityofwaterusedisveryimportant.Distilledwaterisquitepure
andisthemostcommontypeofwaterusedinbatteries.Otheracceptabletypesaredeionizedwaterandwaterfrom
reverseosmosis.Ordinarytapwatershouldnotbeusedbecauseitcontainsanexcessiveamountofimpuritiesthat
willdegradebatteryperformance.
Distilledwaterisproducedbydistillation,aprocessinwhichwaterisboiled,thesteamiscollectedandthencondensed
backintowater.Thisprocesscreatesanishedproductfreeofminerals,havingleftalltheimpuritiesintheoriginal
watersample.ClubCar,alongwithourbatterymanufacturers,highlyrecommendsthatdistilledwaterbeusedin
electricvehiclebatteries.
Deionizedwateristhepurestformofwater,butitisalsothemostexpensive.Deionizationremovesallionizable
particles(organicandinorganic)fromwaterthroughionexchange.Positivelyandnegativelychargedionsareremoved
fromthewaterandreplacedwithH+andOH-ions.Whenthesetwoionsarecombined,theyformH2O,orpuried
water.

Reverseosmosisisamethodofremovingsolidsfromwaterbyforcingitthroughamembrane.Themembrane
rejectsallsolidswhileallowingpuriedwatertopassthrough.Thechoiceofmembranedeterminestheamount
ofimpuritiesthatthewatermaycontain.
Waterfrommunicipalsupplies,pondsandwellsusuallycontaindetrimentallevelsofdissolvedmineralsandchemicals.
Ifusingtapwater,itisimportanttouseanin-linedeionizertoremoveimpuritiesthatcandamagebatteriesand
signicantlyreducebatterylife.Iftapwaterisusedwithoutadeionizer,regularwateranalysesmustbeconductedto
checkforimpuritiesbecausewatercompaniescommonlyrevisetheiradditivesonaperiodicbasis.Thefollowing
chartliststhemaximumallowableminerals,solids,andcontaminatesinpartspermillionandtheirimpactonbattery

Ifyoudonotalreadyhaveabatterywateringintervalforyourvehicles,manuallycheckthebatterywaterlevelweekly
toestablishthecorrectwateringinterval.Thereafter,waterbatteriesaccordingtotheestablishedinterval.During
periodsofheavyuse,addadditionalwateringasrequired.
Single-PointWateringSystemMaintenance
1.ForvehiclesnewlyequippedwiththeSingle-PointWateringSystem,theinitialelectrolytelevelcheckonall
batterycellsveriesthatallthevalvesintheSPWSarefunctioningcorrectly.SeePeriodicServiceSchedules
onpage35.Ifavalvefailstoopen,thecellwilleventuallydryout.Theinitialone-timeinspectionofallcells
willidentifyanyoccurrenceofavalvethatfailstoopen.Ifavalvefailstoclose,itwillbecomeevidentdueto
thecelloverowingduringroutinewatering.Eitherfailurescenarioisrare,butshouldbemonitoredintheinitial
inspectionandduringroutinewateringsessions.Replacemalfunctioningvalvestoensuremaximumbattery

Atonehourandattwohoursintothechargecycle,thechargerwillshutoffinordertorunaself-diagnostic
program(ammeterwilldroptozero).Chargingwillresumeinafewmoments(ammeterreturnstoprevious
rateofcharge).
Eachelectricvehicleissuppliedwithafullyautomaticbatterychargerasstandardequipment.TheACcordtoeach
chargeristobeconnectedtoasourcecapableofsupplying15amperesminimumpercharger.
Toreducetheriskofelectricshock,thebatterychargermustbegrounded.ThechargerisequippedwithanACelectric
cordhavinganequipment-groundingconductorandagroundingtypeplug.TheACplugmustbeconnectedtoan
appropriatereceptaclethatisproperlyinstalledandgroundedinaccordancewiththeNationalElectricalCodeandall
localcodesandordinances.Seetheownersmanualsuppliedwiththechargerforspecicoperatinginstructions
beforeusingthecharger.
Theuseofanextensioncordwiththechargershouldbeavoided.Ifanextensioncordmustbeused,usea
three-conductorno.12AWG(AmericanWireGauge)orno.14SWG(BritishStandardWireGauge),heavy-dutycord

DonotpullontheDCcord(Figure30,Page48).Donottwist,rockorbendtheplug.Todisconnect
thechargerplugfromthevehiclereceptacle,grasptheplugbythehandleandpulltheplugstraight
outofthereceptacle.
Donotconnectachargertothereceptacleifthechargercord,plug,orthevehiclereceptacleis
broken,damagedinanymanner,ordoesnotmakeagoodelectricalconnection.Fireorpersonal
injurycanresult.Haveitreplacedbyaqualiedservicepersonimmediately.
Failuretofollowtheseinstructionscouldresultindamagetothechargercord,theplug,and(or)
thevehiclereceptacle.
Donotuseachargerif:
Theplugistoolooseordoesnotmakeagoodconnection.
Theplugandreceptaclefeelhotterthannormalduringcharge.
Theplugpinsorreceptaclecontactsarebentorcorroded.
Theplug,receptacle,orcordsarecut,worn,haveanyexposedwiresoraredamagedinanyway.
Usingthechargerwithanyoftheabovesymptomscouldresultinare,propertydamage,personal
injury,ordeath.
NOTE:Whentemperaturesfallbelow65°F(18.3°C),batterieschargedinunheatedareasshouldbeplacedon
chargeassoonaspossibleafteruse.Batteriesarewarmestimmediatelyafteruse,andcoldbatteries
requiremoretimetofullycharge.
InsertthechargerDCplugintothevehiclereceptacle.Thechargerwillturnontwototensecondslater(Figure
29,Page48).

BatteryChargerElectricVehicles
ClubCarbatterychargersinteractwiththevehicleonboardcomputer.Thecomputerrecordstheamountofenergy
consumedduringvehicleuse.Whilethechargerispluggedin,thevehicle’scontrolcircuitislockedout,preventing
operationofthevehicle,aswellasthepossibilityofconsequentdamagetothechargerandthevehicle.
Oncethelockoutisactuated,thechargerturnson.Theonboardcomputerthenrecordstheamountofenergybeing
returnedtothebatteries.Whentheoptimumamountofenergyneededtoreplenishthebatteriesisreturned,the
chargerwillshutoff.Thecontrolcircuitlockoutremainsactivateduntilthechargerplugisdisconnectedfromthevehicle.
OnlyClubCarPowerDrivebatterychargersarecompatiblewithPrecedentelectricvehicles.
Aslongasthechargerisallowedtoshutoffbyitself,thebatterieswillbefullycharged.Overchargingand
underchargingwillnormallybeprevented.
Batteriesshouldbeputonchargeeveniftheyhavebeenusedforonlyashortperiod(9holesofgolfor10minutes).
Thechargerisautomaticandwillturnoffwhenbatteriesarefullycharged.Ifthechargerdoesnotseemtobeoperating
properly,orifthebatteriesseemweak,contactyourlocalClubCardistributor/dealer.

YOURWARRANTYRIGHTSANDOBLIGATIONS:
TheCaliforniaAirResourcesBoard(“CARB”)andClubCar,LLC(“CLUBCAR”)arepleasedtoexplaintheemission
controlsystemwarrantyonyour2009andnewervehicleengine(the“emissionwarranty”).InCalifornia,newsmall
off-roadengines(“SORE”)mustbedesigned,builtandequippedtomeettheState’sstringentanti-smogstandards.
CLUBCARshallwarranttheemissioncontrolsystemonthevehicleenginefortheperiodsoftimelistedbelow
providedtherehasbeennoabuse,neglectorimpropermaintenanceofyoursmalloff-roadengine.
Youremissioncontrolsystemmayincludepartssuchasthecarburetororfuel-injectionsystem,theignitionsystem,the
catalyticconverterandrelatedhoses,belts,connectorsandotheremissionassembliesorcomponents.
Whereawarrantableconditionexists,asdenedherein,CLUBCARwillrepairyourvehicleengineatnocostto
youincludingdiagnosis,partsandlabor.
MANUFACTURER’SWARRANTYCOVERAGE:
Thisemissioncontrolsystemiswarrantedfortwoyearsfromthevehicles’dateofpurchase.Ifanyemission-related
partonyourCLUBCARSOREisdefective,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyCLUBCAR.
OWNER’SWARRANTYRESPONSIBILITIES:
-Asthevehicleengineowner,youareresponsiblefortheperformanceoftherequiredmaintenancelistedinyour
ownersmanual.CLUBCARrecommendsthatyouretainallreceiptscoveringmaintenanceonyourvehicleengine,
butCLUBCARcannotdenywarrantysolelyforthelackofreceiptsorforyourfailuretoensuretheperformanceofall
scheduledmaintenance.
-Asthevehicleengineowner,youshouldhoweverbeawarethatCLUBCARmaydenyyouwarrantycoverageif
vehicleengineoraparthasfailedduetoabuse,neglect,impropermaintenanceorunapprovedmodications.
-YouareresponsibleforpresentingvehicleenginetoaCLUBCARdistributioncenterassoonasaproblemexists.
Thewarrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedinareasonableamountoftime,nottoexceed30days.Ifyouhaveany

equipmentisdesigned,builtandequippedsoastoconformwithallapplicableCaliforniaenvironmentalemission
regulations;andfreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipthatcausethefailureofawarrantedparttobe
identicalinallmaterialrespectstothatpartasdescribedinCLUBCAR’sapplicationforcerticationwithCARB.The
warrantyperiodbeginsonthedatetheengineorequipmentisdeliveredtoanultimatepurchaserorrstplacedinto
service.Thewarrantyperiodistwoyearsfromthedateofpurchase.
2.COVERAGE:
Subjecttocertainconditionsandexclusionsasstatedbelow,thewarrantyonemission-relatedpartsisasfollows:
(1)Anywarrantedpartthatisnotscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceinthewritteninstructions
supplied,iswarrantedforthewarrantyperiodstatedabove.Ifthepartfailsduringtheperiodofwarrantycoverage,the
partwillberepairedorreplacedbyCLUBCARaccordingtosubsection(4)below.Anysuchpartrepairedorreplaced
underwarrantywillbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheoriginalwarrantyperiod.
(2)Anywarrantedpartthatisscheduledonlyforregularinspectioninthewritteninstructionssuppliediswarranted
forthewarrantyperiodstatedabove.Anysuchpartrepairedorreplacedunderwarrantywillbewarrantedforthe
remainingoriginalwarrantyperiod.
(3)Anywarrantedpartthatisscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceinthewritteninstructionssuppliedis
warrantedfortheperiodoftimebeforetherstscheduledreplacementdateforthatpart.Ifthepartfailsbeforethe
rstscheduledreplacement,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyCLUBCARaccordingtosubsection(4)below.
Anysuchpartrepairedorreplacedunderwarrantywillbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheperiodpriortotherst
scheduledreplacementpointforthepart.
(4)Repairorreplacementofanywarrantedpartunderthewarrantyprovisionshereinmustbeperformedatawarranty
station*atnochargetotheowner.
(5)Notwithstandingtheprovisionsherein,warrantyservicesorrepairswillbeprovidedatallofourdistributioncenters
thatarefranchisedtoservicethesubjectenginesorequipment.

(7)CLUBCARisliablefordamagestootherengineorequipmentcomponentsproximatelycausedbyacovered
failureunderwarrantyofanywarrantedpart.
(8)Throughouttheengineorequipmentwarrantyperiodstatedabove,CLUBCARwillmaintainasupplyofwarranted
partssufcienttomeettheexpecteddemandforsuchparts.
(9)Anyreplacementpartmaybeusedintheperformanceofanywarrantymaintenanceorrepairsandmustbe
providedwithoutchargetotheowner.SuchusewillnotreducethewarrantyobligationsofCLUBCAR.
(10)Add-onormodiedpartsthatarenotexemptedbytheAirResourcesBoardmaynotbeused.Theuseofany
non-exemptedadd-onormodiedpartsbytheultimatepurchaserwillbegroundsfordisallowingawarrantyclaims.
CLUBCARwillnotbeliabletowarrantfailuresofwarrantedpartscausedbytheuseofanon-exemptedadd-onor
modiedpart.
