Social Media Request Form
With the explosion of social media over the last few years, it is becoming increasingly tempting to want to establish a
Facebook, Twitter, or other social media account for your department. Before jumping on the social media bandwagon,
it’s important to understand the pros and cons of establishing an account.
Social media accounts for Juilliard-affiliated student organizations require institutional approval and are subject to
the following general guidelines:
1. The account must be approved by Sabrina Tanbara (Assistant Dean of Student Affairs) and
Jessica Epps (Social Media and Digital Marketing Manager).
2. The account must be shared with a supervising faculty or staff member, who must have access to login
credentials, and whose role should be set to ‘Administrator’ in the “Page Roles” setting (Facebook).
3. If the account name includes “Juilliard,” please indicate in the “About” section that the page/group is a
student organization.
4. The Juilliard logo may not be used as the account’s profile or cover photo.
Ask yourself these few basic questions:
1. Who is your target audience? Who are you trying to reach?
2. What is your objective? What do you expect?
3. Do you have a clear strategy? What kind of social interaction will help you achieve your goals?
4. Which social media channel will best enable you to reach your audience?
5. How much time do you or your staff have to devote to maintaining social media accounts?
Note: Posting to and monitoring accounts can be time consuming for your account to be successful. Current
best practices suggest at least one to two engaging post(s) on Facebook per day; four to six engaging tweets
per day.
Answer these questions and you’re ready to submit your proposed account for consideration!
Please fill out the form below and return it to Sabrina Tanbara (Student Affairs Office, stanbara@juilliard.edu; ext. 200)
or Jessica Epps (Communications Office, jepps@juilliard.edu; ext. 207); they will contact you to set up a meeting to
discuss your request.
