is one of three
comprehensive high schools
in Irvine, California. Located
in the heart of Orange
County, Beckman services
the residential communities
of Tustin, Irvine, and Santa
Ana. Beckman is a WASC
accredited school and
proudly educates a diverse
ethnic and socioeconomic
community of over 2,800
students in grades 9-12.
BHS provides a challenging
curriculum offering, close and personal involvement between teachers, students, and parents.
Courses are offered to develop academic abilities, artistic talents, and athletic skills.

SCHEDULING
BHS operates on a six-
period day. Semester
classes are 18 weeks long
and yearlong classes are 36
weeks. Students are limited
to six classes per semester
except for those in
Instrumental music,
Athletics, Yearbook,
Associated Student Body,
AVID, and Early College.
Students in these programs
may add an additional class.
CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT
BHS is centrally located near
multiple community colleges.
Some students augment their
course loads with transferable
college courses. Under an
agreement with Irvine Valley
College, students can complete
Dance 77, Kinesiology 85,
Kinesiology 212, Business
Communications 1 and 3,
Management 1, and
Entrepreneurship 200, 211 and
212, and HD 7 - Dev. Psychology
and HD 15 Socialization of the
Child on the BHS campus while
earning both high school and
college credit.
GRADING
Beckman High School utilizes a weighted four-point system to calculate
students grade point averages.
Grade Scale: 4.0=A+/A/A- 3.0=B+/B/B- 2.0=C+/C/C- 1.0=D+/D/D-
Advanced Placement/Honors courses are weighted
Grade Scale: 5.0=A+/A/A- 4.0=B+/B/B- 3.0=C+/C/C- 1.0=D+/D/D-
Students with international records will receive a P Pass or F Fail grade on their
Beckman High School transcript for courses taken outside the United States. Students are
encouraged to provide a copy of their original international records directly to colleges
and universities for grade interpretation as warranted.

Unified School Board policies,
Beckman High School does
not rank students.
Beckman will provide
percentile range rankings
when requested by
universities and scholarship
organizations.
19-20 AND 20-20 SCHOOL YEAR GRADING
Due to coronavirus pandemic, Tustin Unified School
District adopted a Credit/Incomplete Grading Policy in
addition to the regular grading policy for the Spring
semester of 19-20, and for the entirety of the 20-21
school year. A “CR” for Credit indicates that the student
fulfilled course requirements satisfactorily. An “I” for
incomplete indicates the student was not able to
complete the course
