Application Checklist - CHINA
The Work and Holiday visa provides a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity for Chinese
participants.
There is an annual limit of 5000 places per year for first time applicants.
All applicants for a first Work and Holiday visa must make an appointment through an
online booking system and then personally attend an Australian Visa Application Centre
(AVAC) in China to submit their application and supporting documents.
You must have an appointment to submit your application.
Your passport is required as proof of identity when you submit your application.
Please use this checklist to ensure that you have the main documents we require to assess
your application. While we may ask you to provide additional documents during the
processing of your application, a decision on your visa application may be made solely on
the information and documentation that you provide at the time of lodgement.
Important:
Please provide an email address on the application form as this is the easiest
way to communicate with you.
Please do not include any original documents with your application.

Personal Documents
A copy of your appointment confirmation letter
Two copies of the bio-data page of your current passport (including one colour copy)
If this is your first visit to Australia, please also provide:
colour copies of the back page of your passport (if signature page), and
all pages containing a visa, stamp or signature.
A colour copy of the household registration booklet (hukou)
A colour copy of the National Identity Card
Two recent passport sized photos (45mm x 35mm) attached to the front of the application form.
Note: These photographs should be of the head and shoulders, only,
against a plain background.
Please also
print the name of the applicant on the back of each photograph.
If you have changed your name, certified copies of documents verifying the name
change. For example: certified copy of evidence of the name change
If you have served in the armed forces of any country: certified copies of military service record or
discharge papers.
Provide a copy of your curriculum vitae (CV) in both English and Chinese
Financial Documents
Provide evidence that you have or have access to sufficient funds for personal support during
your 12 month stay in Australia of at least AUD 5,000.
This could include:
Copies of your bank deposit books showing your savings history and/or salary
Copies of your bank statements or pay slips over a period of time
Other evidence of funds or assets
Provide evidence that you hold an onward travel ticket out of Australia, or have access to
sufficient funds to cover travel costs to and from Australia.
Note: This must be in addition to your funds for personal support while in Australia.
Education documents
Provide evidence of all of your tertiary qualifications or evidence of having successfully
completed at least two years of tertiary study
.
You must provide the following evidence in both English and Chinese:
A certified copy of your graduation certificate from a tertiary institution; and
A certified copy of your academic transcripts from a tertiary institution

English Proficiency
Evidence of English proficiency must be provided when you submit your application at your
appointment. You must provide one of the following as evidence that you have a level of
English which is assessed as at least functional. This can include a Certificate from a
specified English language test showing that you meet the English language skill requirement
with one of the following acceptable English test scores or a satisfactory level of academic
instruction in an English medium.
An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) average band score of at
least 4.5 for the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing)
completed within 12 months of visa application lodgement
o Note: Either the General Training or Academic Modules are acceptable.
A Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) total band
score of at least 32 for the four test components of speaking, reading, writing and
listening completed within 12 months of visa application lodgement
A Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) overall band score of at least
30 for the four test components of speaking, reading, writing and listening completed
within 12 months of visa application lodgement
A Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test overall band score of at least 147 for the
four test components of speaking, reading, writing and listening and the test must
have been taken on or after 1 January 2015
Completed all years of primary education and at least three years of secondary school
at an institution where all the instruction was in English
Completed at least five years of secondary education (high school) at an educational
institution in which all instruction was in English
Completed at least two years of full-time study or equivalent towards a degree, higher
degree, diploma or a trade certificate at an institution in or outside Australia where all
the instruction was in English
Completed at least one year of full-time study or equivalent towards a degree, higher
degree, diploma or associate diploma at an Australian institution where all the
instruction was in English
Health requirements
You are required to meet the health requirements in order to be granted a visa.

Character requirements
You may be required to provide a Form 80 Personal particulars for assessment including
character assessment and/or a penal clearance for any country you have lived in for 12
months, or longer, in the last ten years, since reaching 16 years of age.
The office processing your application will advise you if they require these documents.
